K8 Series

Autonomy

With its built-in scheduler, flash memory, and astronomical clock, the Kamelon K8 Series doesn't requires any human intervention for its day-to-day tasks. Events and schedules can be programmed years in advance and downloaded directly to the Time Clock Card of the panel. Various remote access devices, such as modem, telephone and Internet interface, can be used to perform on-site programming and schedules modifications.

Interoperability

The K8 Series was developed using open LonWorks technology from the Echelon® Corporation. By adopting LonTalk® communication protocols and incorporating Neuron® microprocessors into its electronic boards, the Kameleon K8 Series complies with LonMark™ Interoperability Guidelines and is ready to interoperate in highly functional, flexible, open building systems. The Kameleon K8 Series is also able to interoperate with equipment using other standards such as BACnet through the use of gateways and plug-ins.

Adaptability

In a retrofit or expansion project, the Kameleon K8 Series can be easily incorporated to the already existing lighting control architecture. The electronic boards of the K8 Series were developed to be able to control most common relays on the market, such as GE three wire and Douglas two wire.

Reliability

Lighting is vital to assure business operations in most buildings. Before being shipped to our clients, each panel and its controllers go through a series of testing procedures that guarantee the full operability of the system.

Flexibility

The Kameleon K8 Series offers to facilities managers all the flexibility they require to deal with their indoor and outdoor lighting control needs, from a stand-alone system to a soft-wired networked panels system or a fully programmable network system. In each case, the end-user will be able to interact with the system through a console, a telephone interface, a modem or an Internet connection. Furthermore, Kameleon Software scheduling and event programming capabilities will easily support all common sequences encountered in lighting control.

Quality

The quality of any system starts with the type of components that are used. The K8 Series higher level of quality has been obtained by the incorporation of the most reliable switches, sensors, and dimmers available on the market. These components are operated and controlled by electronic boards that are designed and manufactured in Gentec's ISO 9001 (2000) Certified Facility and by the Kameleon Software, developed by Gentec's team of highly experienced programmers.

K8 Series

An Echelon based system with dimming capabilities that adapts to any building management system

K8 Series: Versatility and Connectivity

The Series is the most advanced system in the Kameleon family. Best suited for medium to large-scale projects, the K8 Series offers extended switching and dimming (analog and digital) control capabilities.

Based on Echelon LonWorks protocol, the K8 systems can easily be integrated to any building management system.

The K8 Series panels, which come with pre-wired WR-6161 heavy-duty relays* (16, 32 or 64) can be equipped with KC-811 Digital Time Clock, KC-821 Input Controllers, KC-83X Output Controllers and KC-84X Dimming Controllers.

Usual control devices, such as, switches, motion/light sensors or photocells, can easily be linked to the system through the use of standard #18 AWG low voltage wire.

The K8 Series system can be installed in a single panel or in a multiple panels network configuration. Once configured, the K8 Series system will be able to operate in a stand-alone mode. However, real-time monitoring of the lighting status and direct operation of the system can be achieved with the Kameleon Software.
